About
The Journey So Far…
Some 53 years ago (circa 1951) a group of around twelve people, hungry for more of God, formed Whiston Street Assemblies Of God Pentecostal Church. We thank God for the faithfulness of this core of people who ‘hung in’ through opposition and criticism. They remained faithful to the Biblical teaching of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, the restoration of the gifts of the Spirit, the present need of Ephesians 4:11 ministry gifts and the laying on of hands.
Out of that group of people from humble beginnings has grown a church with a base and ‘centre’ known throughout the city by both Christians and non-Christians. A church of around 500+ people who facilitate through family, friends and ‘networks’ a pastoral opportunity to influence and call upon around 2,000 people, many of them who would consider ‘New Life’ to be their church!
Personal note from Pastor Geoff and Jean: “When we arrived in 1972, this growing group of people taught us by word and deed that the only thing that really mattered in life was to live for Christ. They showed by Godly example that the only way to live for Christ was to give until there was nothing left to give.”
